FEBRUARY ROUND UP

February was a hectic month. Mostly due to work, I don't go into a lot of detail about work here, just overviews and positive, but let's just say we are going through a lot of change and it is exhausting.

I went to my first gig of the year at the beginning of the month. Steve Smyth, at The Stag at Mayfield. We had a great pub meal prior, and headed into the gig. The Stag are doing wonderful things for the live music scene and the gig area had a great vibe. Steve, as always was great, but possibly not as great as he could have been. He seemed distracted, nonetheless, a good time was had.

There was dinner twice at the Peacock Palace, a long favourited institution at Warners Bay and always a great meal.

I took time to think about my 1 year anniversary since getting dealt the cancer card.

I also headed to Swansea RSL to celebrate Doug's 102nd birthday, but alas he was too unwell to make the day, we celebrated anyway.

February was Oscar Month. You can read about the films I watched, my predictions, and what actually happened at these links.

There are the usual reviews, markets, and pics.

FEBRUARY/MARCH ROUND UP

I have joined February and March together, as I was convalescing from Surgery for a few weeks in the middle of these months and therefore didn't do much.

So yeah, I had Breast Cancer, it was awful but so quickly resolved I am still reeling. Science is a remarkable thing and early detection meant I was cancer free exactly ONE MONTH later. You can read all about my experience here.

Work was still crazy busy with loads of training and meetings in the lead up to our computer system. All of which I had to abandon upon my diagnosis.

But February started well, meeting Tania for a catch up at The Central and listened to a great set of vinyl DJing from Reggae Got Soul. Loads of soul music from the 60s and 70s.

I spent an afternoon in Hamilton, waiting for my car to be serviced.

I caught up with Belinda and Anna at Rustica for a lovely lunch overlooking the beach.

I headed to Sydney to meet my lovely cousin, Demi, for a day of Art at NSW Art Gallery, you can read about that here.

Jayne and I headed to Hamilton to see my friend's band, Precious Little play.

I also took a run up to Tanilba Bay, so beautiful.

Plus the usual markets and choir, with us singing Powderfinger at 48 Watt Street!

March commenced with The Oscars and it was a great day, despite being overshadowed by cancer.

Cathy and I had dinner out and saw the brilliant Black Panther on the eve of all my medical stuff. We both loved the movie, was kick arse and featured soo many strong women it was incredibly moving.

And thus began my healing.

However, I had many lovely visitors, and a few people break me out of what felt like House Arrest.

Jayne collected me so we could see the ever astonishing Steve Smyth perform at 48 Watt Street. I also had a few lunches and morning teas out.

Of course this down time gave me plenty of time to read and watch.

JANUARY ROUND UP

Ahhh January, where did you go!?

Day one ended with a hamburger and a lovely sunset.

Day two a fab day in the city, indulging and wandering about with the gorgeous C.

My new car suffered an injury, a flat tyre, quelle horreur!

I had one of those perfect days, where I walked and walked at Warners Bay and read in the sun, then headed out for a lovely evening with J seeing Suffragette and indulging in our favourite, Saigon Feast.

And then Boom, David Bowie dies and the year isn't exactly feeling shiny anymore.

But life marches on...

We entertained the kids at work by way of Star Wars, everyone had a galaxial time.

We had first movie night of the year at work, and first date of the year...not at work!

I began Oscar Watch and saw The Revenent, The Big Short, Joy, The Danish Girl, The Hateful Eight, and Carol.

I saw Sedaris at The Civic, and also Steve Smyth up close and personal with my gals.

I helped C and B celebrate milestone birthdays at Sephardim.

Later in the month I had a proper look at the Mambo exhibit and met C for a talk of the irreverence of art hosted by HG Nelson. It was brilliant.

Wild was the first book for Bibliotweeps for the year, huge turn out, loads of great discussion and a little online banter with the author herself.

I dined for one on Scotties and caught up with Catapult dance with A, L and S.

And some photos from around and about.
